District 202 high schools in Plainfield will present their annual fall plays in November, offering a range of productions from classic stories to modern comedies.
Plainfield East High School will stage “It’s a Wonderful Life” at 7 p.m. on November 13, 14, and 15, and at 2 p.m. on November 16, 2025. The play, adapted for the stage by James W. Rodgers from Philip Van Doren Stern’s story and the 1946 film by Frank Capra, tells the story of George Bailey, who learns about his impact on others through an angel’s intervention. The production aims to highlight themes of community and personal influence, with the message that “no man is a failure who has friends.” Tickets cost $8 for adults and $5 for District 202 staff, students, seniors, and children under five. Plainfield High School - Central Campus will present “Failure: A Love Story,” a comedy by Philip Dawkins, at 6:30 p.m. on November 14 and 15, and at 1:30 p.m. on November 15 and 16, 2025. Plainfield South High School will perform “Almost, Maine” at 7 p.m. on November 14 and 15, and at 2:30 p.m. on November 16, 2025. The play consists of vignettes set in a small town under the northern lights, exploring themes of love and connection. Plainfield North High School will present “Game of Tiaras” at 7 p.m. on November 14 and 15, and at 2 p.m. on November 16, 2025. The play is described as follows: “When the aging king of a Magical Kingdom (England) decides to split his empire between his three daughters, Cinderella, Belle, and the Snow Queen (who in no way resembles a copyrighted character), terrible tragedy ensues - terrible, hilarious tragedy.” The production combines elements of “Game of Thrones” and Shakespearean tragedy.
