ASVAB test to be offered at Plainfield North High School for upperclassmen
Ross Draper, Principal | Plainfield North High School

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) will be available to sophomores, juniors, and seniors at Plainfield North High School on Tuesday, October 21. The test is scheduled from 8 a.m. to approximately 11 a.m.

The ASVAB evaluates students' natural abilities in eight different areas. It is intended to help students identify their strengths and explore how these strengths may connect to potential career paths. While the ASVAB serves as the entrance exam for the U.S. military, school officials emphasize that "there is absolutely no military commitment whatsoever by taking this test."

Students interested in participating can sign up in Student Services until Monday, October 20.

Plainfield North High School serves grades 9 through 12 and had an enrollment of 2,309 students during the 2019-2020 academic year, according to the Illinois Report Card (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). During that period, sophomores made up about 25.6 percent of the student body (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/), juniors accounted for roughly 23 percent (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/), and seniors represented about 24.9 percent (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).

The school's student population was comprised of approximately 66 percent white students, with other represented groups including black students at 6.8 percent, Hispanic students at 13.2 percent, and Asian students at 9.1 percent during the same year (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).

The ASVAB is offered free of charge.
