A total of 563 District 202 high school graduates and current students have been recognized as 2024 AP Scholars, according to results from the Advanced Placement exams taken during the 2024-2025 academic year.
District 202 students achieved an average score of 3 out of a possible 5 on the AP exams. Many participants took more than one exam. The number of AP Scholars has increased significantly since 2010, when there were just 104 recipients across all four high schools in the district.
The Advanced Placement (AP) Program offers high school students college-level coursework, with the opportunity to earn college credit or advanced placement based on their exam performance. Students are not required to take AP exams for their courses, but most choose to do so. College credit is typically awarded for scores of 3 or higher.
District officials attribute this year’s results to ongoing efforts aimed at improving high school achievement by expanding access to rigorous courses and increasing support for students enrolled in them. Since offering only four AP courses in 2006, District 202 now provides a selection of 30 AP courses.
This year’s list of AP Scholars includes:
- Plainfield High School – Central Campus: 90 students
- Plainfield South High School: 111 students
- Plainfield North High School: 189 students
- Plainfield East High School: 173 students

- AP Scholar with Honor: Maintained an average score of at least 3.25 on all exams taken and scored three or higher on four or more.
- AP Scholar with Distinction: Achieved an average grade of at least 3.5 on all exams taken and scored three or higher on five or more.
