District holds Care Closet donation drive at three schools on October 1

The District 202 Care Closet will hold a clothing donation event on October 1, 2025, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Donations can be brought to three locations: Plainfield Academy at Door C (23930 W. Lockport St.), Plainfield East High School’s main entrance (12001 Naperville Road), and Plainfield South High School’s main entrance (7800 Caton Farm Road).

The Care Closet provides clothing and other essential items for families in need within the district. Items requested include snow pants, gym shoes, winter boots of all sizes, new undergarments, and winter coats in youth to adult sizes.

Donations are also accepted year-round through the Plainfield Care Closet Amazon Wish List.

Plainfield East High School serves students in grades 9 through 12 and had an enrollment of 2,162 during the 2019-2020 school year. The school is located in Plainfield and Will County. According to the Illinois Report Card, grade 10 had the highest concentration of students at Plainfield East High School with 24.7 percent of the student body. Grade 12 accounted for about 24.2 percent, grade 11 for about 24 percent, and grade 9 for approximately 23.6 percent of students (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/). The student population was composed of about 42 percent white students, nearly 16 percent black students, roughly 26 percent Hispanic students, and around 11 percent Asian students during that same year (https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/).
