District 202 and the Plainfield Parent Community Network (PPCN) are organizing a free Back to School Fair. The event will take place on Saturday, August 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Plainfield High School-Central Campus located at 24120 W. Fort Beggs Drive.

The fair is open to parents or guardians of children aged between 3 and 22 years old. Attendees are encouraged to bring donations for the Bags of Hope backpack food program.

More than 60 local resource providers will be present to discuss services available for families in areas such as tutoring, advocacy/legal, counseling, grief, recreation, family, and disability services.

“Plainfield is so rich with resources for families that this is a great opportunity to highlight what those resources are and how families can access them,” stated Tim Albores, Director of Student Services – High School and AD/Alternative Programs at District 202.

The event will also feature several activities:

- The Hidden in Plain Sight Trailer will be open for viewing. This trailer is designed like a child’s room and aims to show parents potential hiding spots for drugs.

- Speaker Caden Vittorini will deliver a presentation titled “Building Your Child’s Confidence” at 9 a.m.

- The District 202 Adverse Childhood Experiences or ACES Committee will give a presentation about the impact of trauma at 10 a.m.

- Low-cost immunizations

- Dental exams and cleanings by appointment only
