The Plainfield North High School varsity girls' volleyball team has demonstrated its dedication to both sports and academics. For the seventh year in a row, the PNHS Tigers received the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2024-25 school year.

The team's GPA was an impressive 4.92 on a 5.0 scale, ranking them among the nation's academic leaders. Alongside this achievement, they were named to the AVCA Academic Honor Roll, a recognition given to the top 20 percent of team GPAs in high school volleyball nationwide. Only 593 high school teams across the country earned this honor.

The award-winning team includes student-athletes Kaelynn Adkins, Lindey Balsano, McKenzie Bates, Gia Burton, Riley Cunningham, Isabelle Davis, Lucy del Alcazar, Dalynn Duria, Hope Hartmann, Claudia Los, Ava Manfredi, Kayla Overbeek, and Rylee Richards.

PNHS Athletic Director George Sam praised their commitment to both academics and athletics: "Earning this award shows how much they value being true student-athletes," Sam said. "It’s inspiring to see them set such a high standard for future teams."

Sam also highlighted their strong work ethic and positive culture: “This recognition from the AVCA reflects the culture of excellence these players have built and how they support each other on and off the court.”

The AVCA Team Academic Award began in the 1992–93 season to honor volleyball teams maintaining a GPA of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
