Three students from Timber Ridge Middle School have been recognized for their achievements in the 2025 Three Rivers Educational Partnership (TREP) Middle School Safety Poster Contest. Ivan Arroyo, a seventh grader, was awarded the grand prize and received a $250 scholarship. Aisha Chavada, a sixth grader, secured first place with a $150 scholarship, while Laurand Ndegoe, another seventh grader, earned second place and a $75 scholarship.
In addition to these top honors, Timber Ridge had 13 finalists who each received a $50 scholarship. The finalists included Julie Castillo (sixth grade), Caden De Graaf (eighth grade), Dagny Himmelman (sixth grade), Payton Ksiazak (seventh grade), Tori Murdock (eighth grade), Leen Odeh (sixth grade), Jonah Orlando (eighth grade), Angelica Pabon (eighth grade), Angelina Pacheco (sixth grade), David Rivera (seventh grade), David Ruiz-Almaraz (sixth grade), Delicia Troy (sixth grade), and Natalia Troy (eighth grade).
Javion Davis, a junior from Plainfield East High School, was also named a finalist and received a $50 scholarship.
This year's contest saw participation from nine middle and high schools. Timber Ridge was the only middle school from District 202 to enter the competition. Judges from the manufacturing industry evaluated over 200 submissions to select the winners.
The students' posters focused on identifying and mitigating safety hazards at home, in school, or during extracurricular activities. The contest aims to foster a safety mindset among students.
