Fire on Lewood Drive leaves home with $150,000 damage, no injuries reported

At 6:12 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2025, the Western Will County Communication Center (WESCOM) received a 911 call about a fire at a single-family home located in the 16500 block of Lewood Drive, Plainfield.

When fire units arrived, they found smoke and fire extending from the garage's rear up the home's side, reaching the second floor and attic. Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines to control and extinguish the blaze. The family present at the time safely escaped without injury. Commonwealth Edison and NICOR were called to secure utilities on the site. The Plainfield Fire Protection District Fire Investigators are still investigating the fire. Damage to the property is estimated at $150,000.

Assisting at the scene were the Lockport Fire Protection District, Troy Fire Protection District, and Joliet Fire Department. Additional assistance was provided by the Plainfield Police and Plainfield PEMA.
