Middle schoolers join high schoolers for annual Special Olympics basketball event

The Pack the House Special Olympics basketball event is scheduled for February 20, 2025, at Plainfield South High School, located at 7800 Caton Farm Road. The doors will open at 5 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to make a suggested donation of $5 upon entry.

In addition to the games, there will be raffles and prizes aimed at raising funds for District 202 Special Olympics programs. This year marks the first time middle school teams will participate in the event. The Red Cheetahs and Blue Cheetahs basketball teams, composed of students from Aux Sable, Drauden Point, Heritage Grove, John F. Kennedy, and Ira Jones middle schools, will scrimmage starting at 5:30 p.m.

Following the middle school games, Special Olympics basketball teams from Plainfield North, Plainfield South, and Plainfield East high schools will compete against each other beginning at 6:30 p.m. During halftime of these games, the Spirit Squad is set to perform. Additionally, senior high school students involved in the event will receive recognition.
