Sixteen District 202 musicians to attend ILMEA state conference

Sixteen student musicians from District 202 high schools have been selected to participate in the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) All-State Student Programs. The event, which is considered one of the state's most prestigious honors for high school music students, will take place in Peoria from January 29 to February 1, 2025.

The selected students come from four high schools: Plainfield High School-Central Campus, Plainfield East, North, and South. Their participation spans various categories including band, choir, and orchestra.

From Plainfield High School-Central Campus, Lucas Vergara will perform on the E-flat clarinet and Zoe Strange on the flute for the band. Logan Burgess has been chosen for bass II in the choir. Andrew Adamiak and Owen Cortese are recognized for their contributions to music composition.

At Plainfield South High School, Brandon Youngren will play trombone in the band.

Plainfield North High School's representatives include Evan Rodgers on B-flat clarinet and Matthew Witek on tenor saxophone for the band. Evan Ruggirello will sing tenor II in the choir. In orchestra, Ethan Clark will play French horn while Kaitlin Lee will perform on violin.

From Plainfield East High School's choir group, Stella Abarca will sing alto I; Joshua Arenas bass II; Abigail Hebreard soprano II; and Cecilia Wynne soprano I. Madison Barber will represent the orchestra with her oboe performance.
