The Illinois State Seal of Biliteracy offers an opportunity for individuals who speak a language other than English to gain recognition for their bilingual skills. This award acknowledges the ability to communicate in multiple languages, which can enhance college applications, qualify students for college credit, and attract future employers in a global economy.
In addition to these benefits, earning the seal allows individuals to celebrate and showcase their cultural heritage and hard work. The initiative encourages participants to demonstrate the advantages of being bilingual by taking on the State Seal of Biliteracy challenge.
Registration for this program is open from January 15, 2025, through April 29, 2025. Those interested are advised to contact their World Language teacher or counselor with any questions they may have.
