Tyler Morris donates NIL earnings to District 202 families

Dr. Joseph O'Brien Principal | Plainfield East High School

Plainfield East High School alumnus Tyler Morris has made a notable contribution to his community. The University of Michigan junior wide receiver donated part of his Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) earnings to families in need within District 202.

Morris distributed $3,000 in gift cards across Liberty Elementary School, John F. Kennedy Middle School, and Plainfield East High School. His donation aims to assist over 40 students during the holiday season by providing parents and guardians with resources for food, necessities, and gifts.

“They are part of the community I grew up in and I feel like I’m in a position where I should help others when I have the opportunity,” Morris expressed regarding his motivation.

Heather Boswell, Assistant Principal of Student Services at Plainfield East High School, commented on the impact of Morris's gesture: “Plainfield East High School is overwhelmed by Tyler's generosity.” She further stated, “Every Christmas season our PEHS staff donate gift cards to help support families that have fallen on difficult times. We are so grateful for his generosity and support this holiday season.”

NIL agreements allow student-athletes to receive compensation from third parties for the use of their name, image, and likeness.
