Did Central Elementary School students succeed or fail in their 2022-23 school year mathematics tests?

Central Elementary School reported that 31.6% of its students passed the mathematics portion of the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) test in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Illinois State Board of Education.

Of the 275 students who took part in the IAR 26.9% met the testing standard while 4.7% exceeded expectations and scored highest on the test.

The total percentage of Central Elementary School students who met or exceeded their mathematics expectations was unchanged from the previous school year.

Central Elementary School is located within Plainfield School District 202, which roughly covers 28 schools and has a main office in Plainfield.

The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) assesses the progress of students in grades 3-8 in meeting the Illinois Learning Standards in English language arts and mathematics.

The percentage of fourth-grade and eighth-grade public school students performing at or above the NAEP Proficient level in reading in Illinois was not significantly different from the National level, according to the National Center for Education and Statistics.

A study conducted in December 2021 by the Institute of Education Sciences showed that students in grades 4-8 scored less in math than expected after the outbreak of the pandemic. More significant expected changes in learning occurred in grades 6-8 than in grades 4 and 5.
