Enrollment Analysis: Black students comprised 19.6% of Wesmere Elementary School’s student body in 2022-23 school year

There were 107 Black students enrolled in Wesmere Elementary School in the 2022-23 school year, 23.0% more than the previous year, according to the Illinois State Board of Education report.

Data showed that the school welcomed 545 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 19.6% of the student body to be the third most represented ethnicity in the school.

The school is located in Plainfield School District 202 with a central office in Plainfield.

Among the 28 schools in Plainfield School District 202, Plainfield South High School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 2,347 students.

Illinois registered one of the largest enrollment drops during the pandemic. Since 2020, the Prarie State lost nearly 118,000 students, further intensifying a decline trend established since 2013.
