District 202 is set to provide valuable insights on family well-being through an upcoming event organized by the Plainfield Parent Community Network. The program, titled “Building a Brighter Tomorrow Together: Resources You Need to Know About for Promoting Your Family’s Mental, Emotional, and Physical Well-being," will take place on October 23, 2024, at Heritage Grove Middle School in Plainfield.
The evening will begin with a resource fair starting at 6 p.m., followed by the main presentation at 6:30 p.m. During this event, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about various not-for-profit organizations that collaborate with District 202 to enhance the mental, emotional, and physical health of students and families.
Following the presentation, there will be a session for audience questions. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be streamed live on YouTube and later available on the PPCN website.
While registration is not mandatory for attendance, it is encouraged through an online form. Several community resources such as Bags of Hope and Elyssa’s Mission are expected to participate in the program.
The PPCN was established in fall 2016 by social workers and education administrators within District 202. It aims to support parents facing common challenges related to parenting. The network is guided by a committee comprising district officials and community members.
Educators attending this session can earn professional development credits (CEUs and CPDUs).
