The Plainfield Seed Library has opened its doors to gardening enthusiasts, offering a variety of seeds for vegetables, flowers, herbs, and native plants. Located in the Upper Level Lobby by the elevator, the library provides free access to seeds on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. The availability of different seed varieties will change throughout the season.
Patrons are encouraged to be considerate and limit their selection to no more than 15 packs or what they can grow in a single season. Acknowledgment is given to several companies that have generously donated seeds: "Ball Seed Company | Botanical Interests | W. Atlee Burpee Company | Fedco Seed Co. | Ferry-Morse Seed Company | Floret | Harris Seed Company | High Mowing Organic Seeds | Hudson Valley Seeds | Johnny’s Selected Seeds | Pinetree Garden Seeds | Victory Seeds | West Coast Seeds."
The library also welcomes seed donations from the public. A donation box is placed next to the Seed Library for leftover seed packages or seeds harvested from personal gardens. Donors are asked to include specific information on the bag or envelope when contributing seeds.
All garden plots for 2024 have been claimed, but suggestions are available for those unsure about starting a 5’X10’ plot. Additionally, resources like the Old Farmers Almanac offer further planting ideas.
