Ross Draper Principal | Plainfield North High School

District 202 high school juniors have the opportunity to expand their academic experiences through a special grant for summer learning. The Plainfield Foundation for Excellence is set to award Horizon Grants, totaling up to $5,000, to juniors from District 202's four high schools and Plainfield Academy. The exact amount of each grant will depend on applications and available funds, with the total not exceeding $5,000.

These grants are intended for expenses related to summer enrichment programs, covering costs such as registration, travel, accommodation, and educational materials. Programs eligible for funding must take place between June 1 and August 10, 2025.

Applications for the Horizon Grant are due by April 4, 2025. Recipients will be announced by May 2. Interested students can access applications at: https://forms.gle/KyTezE4kxRHrwmqX9.

The Horizon Grants were introduced in 2012 as part of the Foundation's mission to promote academic innovation within District 202. Since its inception in 1983, the Plainfield Foundation for Excellence has raised approximately $1.2 million in support of District 202 students and staff through various grants and scholarships. The Foundation also backs initiatives like a District Art Gallery and leadership programs in high schools.
