District 202 is set to host an event focused on family well-being on October 23, 2024, at Heritage Grove Middle School in Plainfield. The Plainfield Parent Community Network (PPCN) will present a program titled “Building a Brighter Tomorrow Together: Resources You Need to Know About for Promoting Your Family’s Mental, Emotional, and Physical Well-being."

Plainfield North High School's head coach for men's and women's cross country, Andrew Derks, has been awarded the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Coach of the Year for the 2023-24 season. Reflecting on this recognition, Derks stated, “It makes me feel proud to be recognized, but I truly see this as an award for our entire coaching staff.”
The District 202 Board of Education has announced that Superintendent Dr. Glenn Wood is currently on leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). During his absence, the board and district administration have implemented a plan to manage all district responsibilities effectively.
District 202 high school juniors have the opportunity to expand their academic experiences through a special grant for summer learning. The Plainfield Foundation for Excellence is set to award Horizon Grants, totaling up to $5,000, to juniors from District 202's four high schools and Plainfield Academy. The exact amount of each grant will depend on applications and available funds, with the total not exceeding $5,000.

Sixteen seniors from District 202 high schools have been recognized as "commended" students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. This program, managed by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), is a nationwide competition that acknowledges students for their academic potential.
